City Of Orillia

Orillia [ POP. 30,000 ] is the gateway to Ontario's northland located on 3 very unique bodies of water - Trent Severn Waterway, Lake Simcoe and Lake Couchiching.

Lake Simcoe

Lake Simcoe is a large freshwater lake approximately 33 miles north to south at it's longest point, and 24 miles east to west at its widest point. The lake is over 100 feet  deep in some areas so even  Lake Trout are available . The lake is situated between Lake Ontario to the south and Georgian Bay in Lake Huron to the west. The lake is fed by area rivers and the Trent-Severn Waterway, with water flowing out to Lake Couchiching and the Severn  River to Georgian Bay.

Lake Couchiching

"Couch" pronounced cooch is connected to Lake Simcoe at the narrows and proceeds 11 miles north to the entrance of the Trent Cannel at lock 42. You could literally boat to anywhere in the world from here using the Trent Cannel system and its many locks. The lake is 35 feet at it's deepest point and is over limestone bedrock so it shimmers like the  Caribbean Ocean and has that distinct aquamarine colour. This lake is flushed constantly with its many inlets  and outlets making it a healthy non acidic lake.
